Wave Mode watches for a hand—not a person.
No face model runs. Aasta Books uses an on-device hand-landmark model only. The raw camera preview is hidden, so your face and room are not displayed in the reader.
Camera frames are processed transiently inside the current browser tab. They are not uploaded, not recorded, and not stored. Derived hand landmarks are used only long enough to determine whether an open palm moved left, right, or down.
What leaves your device
No camera frames, face images, hand images, hand landmarks, or gesture history are sent to Aasta Books. The site has no camera analytics and creates no biometric profile.
When the camera stops
Camera tracks stop immediately when you press Stop, leave the reader, switch away from the tab, lock the screen, or navigate away. Wave Mode never restarts automatically.
Reading data
Saved books, reading position, completed chapters, and reader preferences stay in browser local storage on your device. Clearing site data removes them.
Alternatives
Wave Mode is optional. Every book remains fully readable with page buttons, chapter controls, touch gestures, and keyboard navigation.
